Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ikeyfoto ("we," "our," or "the App") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our Android application. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

To provide a secure and functional experience for synchronized photo viewing and curation, the App handles the following data:

A. Authentication & Profile

The App supports secure user authentication via Telegram or Email OTP:

  • Telegram Login: If chosen, we retrieve and store your Telegram User ID, Username, First Name, Avatar Photo URL, and Access Role to load your custom boards.
  • Email Login (OTP): If chosen, we collect your Email Address to send a One-Time Passcode. We do not store or require permanent passwords.
  • Access Role: Determines gallery visibility based on administrator-configured rules.

B. Image Caching & Sync Data

To enable offline browsing, the App caches and stores data locally on your device:

  • Synced Metadata: Cached photo databases (synced_metadata.json) and board layouts (synced_boards.json) are stored in private storage.
  • Cached Images: Optimized WebP copies of photos are cached internally (offline_sync/).

C. Curation & Usage Data

When you curate or manage photos, actions are synchronized with your self-hosted server instance:

  • Saves & Downloads: We track photo-to-board saves and image download counts to compile analytics.
  • Custom Boards: Names and contents of your boards are saved to keep devices in parity.

D. Device Permissions

The App requests the following permissions for core functionality:

  • Internet Access: To fetch updates, authenticate sessions, and sync photo metadata.
  • Network State: To detect active Wi-Fi connections and prevent cellular data usage during sync operations if configured.
  • Storage Access (Older Androids): Used solely to save high-resolution photo downloads to your device's media gallery.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Access Control: To verify your role and grant access to the appropriate galleries (such as Private or Archive sections).
  • Offline Navigation: To restore your authenticated session and display cached photos when you are offline or in Airplane Mode.
  • Curation Features: To allow you to organize, download, and save photos into custom boards.

3. Data Storage & Protection

  • Sandboxed Local Storage: All cached session profiles, image databases, and photo metadata are stored using Android's secure Context.MODE_PRIVATE storage. This isolates the data within the App's secure sandbox, preventing other applications on the device from accessing it.
  • Transmission Encryption: All data sent between the App and your server is encrypted in transit using Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security (HTTPS).
  • No Plaintext Tokens: We do not cache or store raw security cookies or Telegram authorization tokens in local SharedPreferences.

4. Third-Party Sharing

  • No Advertising or Analytics: The App does not integrate any third-party advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or analytics platforms.
  • Data Isolation: We do not share, sell, rent, or distribute any user data or device identifiers to third-party entities. The App communicates strictly with your self-hosted ikeyfoto server instance and Telegram APIs for authentication.

5. User Control & Data Deletion

  • Clear Local Cache: You can purge all cached photos, metadata databases, and stored session data at any time via the Sync Management dashboard inside the App, or by clearing the App's storage in your Android system settings.
  • Account Removal: To delete your custom boards or actions logged on the server, please contact your ikeyfoto instance administrator.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of the policy.
